It was near to 6:30 when he
drove back and he noticed Keira's mom was there. He turned to her, "Oy, looks
like mom's here already. I thought we could've had dinner at the house. Guess
this is good-bye for now."
She looked at him from her house. Keeping his stare. She was feeling small
again. She had so much fun today with him. She bit her lip and threw her arms
around him, holding on tight, "Please don't leave me. Please..."
Justin stroked her head softly, "I'll see you tomorrow. If you need anything,
just call me. What's wrong, sweetie? Are you OK?"
She couldn't control the shakes coursing through her body. She was afraid
something bad will happen. She gets these feelings everytime something good
happens. Like it comes with the price to smile. Her arms tightened around
his warm body in fear, "I don't want you to leave."
He pulled away to caress her baby soft cheek, looking in those cerulean
orbs she stared with, "Keira, what's wrong?"
She swallowed as a tear swept down her face, "I don't want to live like
this anymore."
She was beginning the tell the truth. All of it. No holding back. Now that
she found that feeling. That good one. The one never frowns your soul. Her
heart was finally living. She was so close. So close to becoming human finally.
She couldn't lie to him anymore. He needed to know her. Know all her secrets.
"Ju..." She was shaking more now. Why the hell was she stalling? The words
were in her head but refused to surface. There was traffic in her mouth. Something
guarded it. She heard a knock on the closed window.
Her face turned to the fake smile of her current "caretaker." Justin rolled
the window down and waved, "Hi Madison."
She looked too scary for words. Keira could just feel venom dripping from
every word that came out. "Justin, hi. I came early. Come on Keira, sweetie.
You can come out now."
Keira winced. Knowing if she got out of the car, more than hell would let
loose. Her mom was never this nice and never called her sweetie, unless
in front of her boyfriends or other people. She sniffed and stared at Justin,
begging with her eyes to ask her to stay with him. Her mom is not stable now.
Not knowing what she should do she grabbed onto Justin and held on. She didn't
know what to do. She knew she was going to get it bad, she just didn't know
why. She might kick her on the street, this time she might actually do it.
"Keira, come on. Come inside, baby. Justin has
things to do."
She kept kissing his neck and whispered something in his ear,
"Don't listen to her. Don't leave me."
Justin sighed. Her mom did have a point. But something tells him Keira's
telling the truth. He's feeling it in her kisses once more. The honesty in
them blurts out what she can't seem to vocalize. He took her face and stared
her in the eyes. Her eyes pained him. She should not be sad after a day like
today. What could be so horrible about her mom that would scare her this
much?
He placed a gentle kiss on her small forehead, "Don't worry, I'll be here
for you. I'll see you tomorrow."
Keira shook her head. This can't be happening. This just can't be happening.
"NO!"
"Keira, stop this and step out now!" her mom sounded irritated. Still saccharine
nonetheless. Bitch. She was a good actress.
Keira bent down and kissed his lips slowly, "Don't do this to me. Don't..."
God, that kiss dripped so much emotion he just wanted to live her beautiful
mouth. He can't help but feel bad about saying what he said next, "I should
go. I promise I'll be here tomorrow. I promise."
Madison sighed, "See? You'll see him again. Thanks again Justin."
He shook his head has he glanced at her mom briefly before turning back
to Keira, "I'm sorry. We'll hang tomorrow."
She pulled away, suddenly feeling cold. It wasn't supposed to be like this.
He was supposed to care. Why doesn't he just care? She sniffed, looking
at him a final time as if on her knees for his blanket. She was mad. Mad.
She thought he was different. She thought she could believe him. But no,
like the rest, they leave her.
She sadly opened the door, got out, and slammed it hard. Yeah, she was pissed.
She's not about to wait for this bi polar mishap to play it through. She was
done with him.
He rubbed his face thinking he made the biggest mistake ever. He knew it
was for the best though. Something about the whole mother coming out and greeting
the daughter thing freaked him out a little. He pumped the engine and turned
to them, "Madison, I'll you later. Keira, I swear I'll see you tomorrow."
Keira wiped her tear away and faced away. She jammed her eyes shut as she
heard the car drive away. Her arm was roughly grabbed along with a sneer,
"Get inside now!"
She breathed hard and ran inside towards her room but she was halted and
pulled down the stairs. Her face saw the pure violence in her mom's eye and
shielded her face from her. She got kneed hard in the stomach. Two more times
and she was spitting blood. She looked up and got a blow to her eye without
warning followed by a kick to her back twice.
"You fucking think you could fail all your fuckin damn classes and still
live in the same house as me? Heh! Fuckin whore! I should kill you now. How
dare you cross me! I paid for all those classes for nothing! I fuck out around
to feed your ass and this is how you pay me back. That's it! I'm through with
your ass! You're outta here bitch!" she grabbed her by her hair and dragged
her to the kitchen.
Keira kicked and screamed and tried to fight with what she can. It was no
use. She was slammed against the bottom cupboard as Madison went up to grab
the metal spoon and immediately started bruising her daughter with it. Keira
was crying hard. At this point, she didn't care if she died. She doesn't care
anymore. She wasn't strong enough when she needed it. All she kept screaming
for was Justin.
"Justin! GOD, PLEASE HELP ME! OH GOD STOP IT!" She yelped
in terror, it made it worse though.
Oh yea, he wasn't there. No one was. It was her and inevitability. She spat
more blood not thinking. Numb to the world. She took the hard scraping, licks
and suddenly blacked out.
